Rochester: Mother's Day (AKA Grammy's Day)

Happy Mother’s Day (and Happy Birthday GrAnDmA AnGeLa!!)

We started the morning out by calling Grammy and waking her up at 8am to tell her that she should not make us breakfast on Mother's Day. Thoughtful right?! Then we went to her house where she was stressing over the size of her shrimp. (I tried to tell her that size didn't matter.) It was 10am and she was rushing out of the house to make it to Mike and Rose’s because she had the appetizer for the Mother’s Day Brunch that Mike and Rose were throwing from eleven am to three.

We watched Grammy and Avicado pull out of the driveway and race to Mikey’s with one Tupperware bucket full of fruit and another full of shrimp. Not quite sure what it was she had to do to prepare the shrimp at this point (open the bucket?) but she was a determined woman. In the dust of Grammy’s exhaust The Dad’s and Oliver walked around the block in order to tire The Kid out a bit so that he would catch a nap in the car before all the excitement of the afternoon.

It was another beautiful day in Rochester, and we had a blast playing with the kids. Oliver was especially smitten with Kaylee, and this did not bode well with Miss Ella. Oliver got some great quality time with his family, and we all commented on how well Uncle Mikey fit into Grandpa Harlen’s shoes. He looked so comfortable with that beer in one hand and the spatula in the other—rotating his sausages over the grill and opening up his home to all of us. If only we had brought Scooter, Mike would have had a white Shatze running around his feet.

After the brunch we went to Cobbs Hill and played on the playground, visited a friend’s house, and then went to Jine’s for dinner. After dinner we went to get a coffee, some take out desserts, and headed back to Grammy’s for a quick hand of Eucre before packing for the return flight home.
