So for some reason The Boy has been staying up late the past few nights. It started yesterday when Uncle Walter and Dilson brought Oli some great Christmas presents and his dads’ some great chocolates… which we are still eating btw! But I digress, back to The Boy’s sleeping habits; he will not go down without putting up a big fight. It’s crazy really. He has been up to 9:30 and 10pm-ish for the past two nights. Yesterday we thought it was because of all the holiday excitement. Last night Papi tried putting him down without the pacifier and without his last bottle (The bottle has been the cause of the 3am wet diaper changes). It was not easy for Papi as Oli cried for about a half hour before finally knocking out for the night. We’ll see how many nights we have to do that before it becomes habit… I have to admit that it was kind of nice because Oliver slept in until 8:15am and when he woke up he was in the sweetest mood. Our family New Year’s resolution will be to get him on a real schedule. He doesn’t really need that second nap in the late afternoon any longer. (I have a feeling that may be the reasoning behind the late nights.)
He’s still teething--those teeth just keep coming in.
He points at everything now and says “bur-duh!” (Myself included!) Papi is taking him to the zoo today so that he can see some real birds, and hopefully learn the difference between Dad and Bird. He is such a big boy it’s tough to remember that he’s only 10 months.
Routine is very important for a baby. Once they are out of it, even for a short period of time, it is often difficult for them to get back to it. Oliver has had lots of changes lately from the trip to Hawaii on.
Kayla and Oliver should spend some time together :) Boy can she put up a fuss when she is over tired! You can tell by looking at her she is so tired but she will scream to keep herself awake. She is a party girl :) She doesn't want to miss a trick and Oliver may have some of that in him :)
You guys are doing great! Babies don't come with manuals :) Each and every one is unique in temperment. This tooth cutting business is nasty. The sharp ones in the front aren't too bad but those molars really hurt because they are bigger and tend to tear through instead of cut and get it over with. I can imagine that while they are teething any other ailment would be magnified.
Hang in there. There are lots more challenges in your future I guarantee it :) Love to you all!
The real reason Oli wants to stay up is because he wants to be with his dads! So- if he sleeps all day then he's ready to go when his dad's are home! Shoot- I can play that game! Think about it- he just spent a lovely week in Hawaii with his 2 favorite people who love him to pieces! Who wants to go to bed when you can just hang with your dad's! Watch out dad's don't give Oli too much power. Prince or no Prince stay in control. Be careful- babies are pretty smart! They will dominate you if your not careful. Not that domination is a bad thing but you still need to come home nights. HAHA Love you , Grammy
