Today we spent the day at the beach with Ethan and his Mom and Dad. We saw the progress on the new house and then walked down to the beach (of course we stopped for cookies, ice blendeds, and sodas). When we got to the beach Ethan caught some sand crabs in a bucket. Oliver has been to the beach a few times to go for walks in his stroller, but this was the first time he actually set foot in the sand and had a wave hit his toes. The water which was about 70 degrees, which is warm for us, but when the cold water hit Oli's toes he screamed. The water was too cold for him, but he did however love the feel of the sand under his feet, and he also liked it when I carried him into the ocean (provided the water touched no part of him). Oliver's most favorite part was napping in the afternoon sun on Papi's lap while the sound of the ocean waves played a lullabye in the crashing surf. Lisa, David, and Papi watched from a nearby beach blanket as Ethan and I jumped the waves. A few of the waves were fairly powerful--they knocked us around and had Ethan calling out "I'm too young to die!". Afterwards we walked the town, had a lovely dinner, some gelato on the walk back and then drove home and crashed. All in all it was the perfect beach day that I waited all summer to have! Thanks D, L & E!
We look forward to moving into Ethan's guest room soon.
