[Not So] Typical Sunday

Oliver started to fuss immediately after his 6am feeding (6oz of breast milk) and he didn’t stop all day long. He was not really crying per se, but he was moaning and groaning and whining no matter what we did to try and make him happy. By 8am I was trying to wake up Papi so that he would take us to the Farmer’s Market. Maybe Oli was just tired of being in the house and needed a change of scenery. I know I did. Papi was moving slower than Oliver wanted so Oliver and I walked to Starbucks for a Latte and a Blueberry scone while Papi showered. I have the feeling that this kid will get my lack of patience, a Latino/Cuban temper. Someone help us if that happens. The entire walk Oliver kept on moaning and groaning. Could it be teething? Could it be that he just woke up on the wrong side of the bed? Whatever it was it was getting old fast. Somehow pushing him downhill made it more tolerable, at least more tolerable for me. We had just sat down at Starbucks when Papi pulled up. After we all had our muffins and joe and breast milk, we made our way to the market. While at Starbucks, Oliver flirted with a homeless man. They kept smiling at each other while Oli was drinking his bottle. I didn’t really care, I was just glad that Oliver was smiling. I have to admit that it was odd seeing the toothless grin on the homeless guy. He sort of looked like he wanted to eat Oli, or rather gum him. When we walked back to the car, I was pushing the empty stroller while Chris was walking behind me with The Kid. The homeless guy started saying “Where’s my baby?” “Where’s my baby?” That definitely creeped me out a bit. I don’t think he realized that Papi was right behind me holding him. I just smiled and moved a bit quicker for the car.

Oliver made it half way down one street of the market before falling asleep just before we reached the Pasta Guy. Thanks JM for referring us to the Pasta Guy! Oliver stayed asleep for the remainder of the Farmer’s Market trip. The rest of the day Papi and Daddy took turns dealing with the fussy baby. We put him in the bathtub around 6pm and were hoping for an early bedtime in order to finally get some peace. It was not until after his bath and during our dinner that we realized what the matter was.

So little Oliver likes Avocado - me too! The picture is adorable. I've never heard of a baby liking or eating avocado - only in CA. I know baby foods are specially made for little bellies but banana although a favorite can cause the stool to firm up. It is "baby" banana that you are feeding him right? At some point in the not too distant future you will learn about the "BRAT" diet. When your little one has diahhrea it will help things firm up. BRAT is banana, rice, applesauce and toast.

Just remember, Aunt Carol said there would be days like this; there will be days like this Aunt Carol said :)
