Oliver, Papi, Daddy, and Aunt Monte went to brunch today at Fred 62. We spent most of the day staring at the kid and watching his every move. He really is adorable. Monte got to hear Oliver imitate Mariah Carey as The Kid was unusually squawky all day long. Sometimes he hits those glass-shattering high notes when he is right next to your ear. You can almost feel your brain splitting into two pieces.
Grandma Angela and Bandit the dog came by for a visit. We chatted and played with Oliver while Papi set up his high chair. (Yes the house is filling up with more baby stuff!)
Oliver, Papi and I watched the fireworks from the balcony. Oliver didn't seem to pay much attention to the light show but he dug the booming noises that echoed through the canyon. Around 8:30 or so we had our last bottle before bed and listened to the booming from his chair in the nursery. Some of the booms would literally shake the house. Oliver was particularly loveable after his bottle. I held him over my shoulder to burp him and after letting out a considerable burp, he nuzzled my neck and cheek. He then lifted his head and sucked on the tip of my nose. My face was wet with baby spit, but it was so damn cute. Is it wrong to let your baby make out with you under the fireworks on the Fourth of July?
Once Oliver was done sucking face with his dad, he let out another huge burp and fell asleep in my arms. It turned out that he would be up and down all night being woken up by the fireworks that continued through the night.
